【摘要】:Thispracticeallowsdeterminationoftheheatsealabilityofasurfaceorsealantlayer.Whileitisnecessarytohaveaheatsealsurfacelayerthathasadequatesealstrengthfortheapplication,othermaterialproperties,suchasthespecificconstructionandtotalthickness,bothchosentosatisfyrequirementsotherthanheatsealability,willimpactthesealingpropertiesofthematerial.Thispracticeallowstheimpactofchangesinmaterialpropertiesonheatsealabilitytobemeasured.1.1Thesepracticescoverlaboratorypreparationofheatsealsandthetreatmentandevaluationofheatsealstrengthdataforthepurposeofdeterminingheatsealabilityofflexiblebarriermaterials.Itdoesnotcovertherequiredvalidationprocedureforthematerialsandproductionequipment.1.2Testingstrengthorotherpropertiesoftheheatsealsformedbythesepracticesisnotincludedinthisstandard.RefertoTestMethodF88fortestingheatsealstrength.1.3Thepracticesofthisstandardarerestrictedtosealingwithamachineemployinghot-barjaw(s).Impulse,high-frequency,andultrasonicheatingmethodsarenotincluded.1.4Thesepracticesapplyprimarilytowebsintendedtobeusedoncommercialmachinesemployingreciprocatingsealingjaws,suchasmostform-fill-sealpackagingmachines,platenheatsealers,andsoforth.Conditionsofdwelltimeandsealingpressureonmachinesofthistypetypicallyaredifferentfromthoseonrotarymachines.1.5Theprocedureofthispracticewithrespecttochoiceofheatsealingconditionsapplytoultimatesealstrengthorhottackmeasurement.1.6Sealsmaybemadebetweenwebsofthesameordissimilarmaterials.Theindividualwebsmaybehomogeneousinstructureormultilayered(coextruded,coated,laminated,andsoforth).1.7StrengthoftheheatsealasmeasuredbyTestMethodF88isthecriterionforjudgingheatsealabilityemployedinthesepractices.1.8Determinationofheatsealabilityasjudgedbysealcontinuity,typicallymeasuredbyair-leak,dyepenetration,visualexamination,microorganismpenetration,orothertechniques,arenotcoveredbythesepractices.1.9ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.10Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
