【摘要】:Thisguideisintendedtobeusedintheplanningstageorphaseofdevelopingasedimentmonitoringprogram.Thisguideisanassemblyofthecomponentscommontoallaspectsofwatershedsedimentmonitoringandfulfillsaneedinthedevelopmentofacommonframeworkforabettercoordinatedandamoreunifiedapproachtosedimentmonitoringinwatersheds.Theuserofthisguideisnotassumedtobeatrainedtechnicalpractitionerinthewaterquality,sedimentation,orhydrologyfields.Theintendedusersaremanagersandplannerswhoneedinformationtodevelopawaterqualitymonitoringprogramorprojectwithanemphasisinsedimentandhydrology.Sedimentspecialistswillalsofindinformationonprocedures,equipment,methodology,andoperationstoconductamonitoringprogram.Thisguideisusedduringtheplanningprocessofdeveloping,designing,andreevaluatingasedimentmonitoringprogram.1.1Purpose8212;Thisguideisintendedtoprovidegeneralguidanceonawatershedmonitoringprogramdirectedtowardsediment.Theguideoffersaseriesofgeneralstepswithoutsettingforthaspecificcourseofaction.Itgivesadviceforestablishingamonitoringprogram,notanimplementationprogram.1.2Sedimentationasreferredtointhisguideisthedetachment,entrainment,transportation,anddepositionoferodedsoilandrockparticles.Specifictypesorparametersofsedimentmayinclude:suspendedsediment,bedload,bedmaterial,turbidity,washload,sedimentconcentration,totalload,sedimentdeposits,particlesizedistribution,sedimentvolumesandparticlechemistry.Monitoringmayincludenotonlysedimentssuspendedinwaterbutsedimentsdepositedinfields,floodplains,andchannelbottoms.1.3Thisguideappliestosurfacewatersasfoundinstreamsandrivers;lakes,ponds,reservoirs,estuaries,andwetlands.1.4Limitations8212;Thisguidedoesnotestablishastandardproceduretofollowinallsituationsanditdoesnotcoverthedetailnecessarytodefinealloftheneedsofaparticularmonitoringobjectiveorproject.Otherstandardsandguidesincludedinthereferenceandstandardsectionsdescribeindetailtheprocedures,equipment,operations,andsiteselectionforcollecting,measuring,analyzing,andmonitoringsedimentandrelatedconstituants.1.5AdditionalASTMandUSGeologicalSurveystandardsapplicabletosedimentmonitoringarelistedinAppendixX1andAppendixX2.Duetothelargenumberofoptionalstandardsandproceduresinvolvedinsedimentmonitoring,mostindividualstandardsarenotreferencedinthisdocument.Standardsandprocedureshavebeengroupedintheappendicesaccordingtothetypeofanalysesorsamplingthatwouldberequiredforaspecifictypeofmeasurementormonitoring.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
