【摘要】:Thehighaxial-tensilestrengthandthelowtransverse-compressivestrengthofpultrudedrodcombinetopresentsomeuniqueproblemsindeterminingthetensilestrengthofthismaterialwithconventionaltestgrips.Thehightransverse-compressiveforcesgeneratedintheconventionalmethodofgrippingtendtocrushtherod,therebycausingprematurefailure.Inthistestmethod,aluminum-alloytabscontouredtotheshapeoftherodreducethecompressiveforcesimpartedtotherod,thusovercomingthedeleteriousinfluenceofconventionaltestgrips.Tensilepropertiesareinfluencedbyspecimenpreparation,strainrate,thermalhistory,andtheenvironmentalconditionsatthetimeoftesting.Consequently,whereprecisecomparativeresultsaredesired,thesefactorsmustbecarefullycontrolled.Tensilepropertiesprovideusefuldataformanyengineeringdesignpurposes.However,duetothehighsensitivityofthesepropertiestostrainrate,temperature,andotherenvironmentalconditions,dataobtainedbythistestmethodshouldnot,bythemselves,beconsideredforapplicationsinvolvingload-timescalesorenvironmentalconditionsthatdifferwidelyfromthetestconditions.Incaseswheresuchdissimilaritiesareapparent,thesensitivitiestostrainrate,includingimpactandcreep,aswellastoenvironment,shouldbedeterminedoverawiderangeofconditionsasdictatedbytheanticipatedservicerequirements.1.1Thistestmethoddescribesaprocedurefordeterminingthetensilepropertiesofpultruded,glass-fiber-reinforcedthermosettingplasticrodofdiametersrangingfrom3.2mm(1/8in.)to25.4mm(1in.).Littletestspecimenpreparationisrequired;however,reusablealuminumtabgripadapters(Fig.1)ofappropriatesizearerequiredtopreventprematurefailureofthespecimensatthegrips.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardsstatementsaregiveninNote3andNote4.Note18212;ThereisnoknownISOequivalenttothistestmethod.
